  1. As a real flipper, let me break down what happened here: So you bought that large nerf package for $40 (overpaid btw) and saw a comp for $200 (didnt show proof of actually sellng it) and popped up on the screen "profit $150". Haha. That package is over 3lb, so you're looking at $10+ in shipping, then you have the final value fee + paypal fee of 3% so there goes another $25, then you've got to wait for the item to actually sell and you need some kind of an inventory management system in place to store your inventory while you wait for it to sell which means you need to invest in shipping supplies, organizational supplies, etc. Not to mention the taxman is going to tax you self-employment income at a whopping 13% on top of your already high federal/state income taxes. So if you pay $10 on shipping, $25 in fees, and lets say a marginal $1 per item on shipping expenses, then you get whopped for 30% from the tax man, you maybe made $75/$150. That's why you needed to buy that item for $20.
