Awesome Tip: How to Put Your Child in a Position to Succeed | Podcast with Sonya and Sacha

I loved getting to film this podcast with Sonya and Sacha because I’m so passionate about how my parents parented me and why I think it’s the most absurd shit that some parents have their self-confidence tied up in their children.

  1. Gary, your main point is solid. The one factor that I think most people are missing is that while everyone is hustling or due to socioeconomic reasons are having to work multiple jobs our children are being raised by someone or something else. From the ages of 0-7 are the most important times in a child's development. You are either contributing to that development or you are letting an external factor onto your child learning experience. I get it, quality over quantity but the parents that make time for both will win every time. Much love!

  2. @10:00 Not gonna lie, this gave me tears in my eyes. As the full time, single father of a ten year old boy, this was it, this is the single piece of parenting advice I needed to hear. Shit Gary man. That was straight legacy.

In a side note, these two ladies are adorable.

  3. My parents aren't anything like this but I can't whine what type of parents I have. I'll just do my own thing and ik my parents will hate me but they will hate me for all the wrong they put in me, thank you Gary for living in the same time line as I do because with out you-I'll be lost. Much love from Los Angeles from a 17 year old boy

  4. Gary works 18 hours per day, but then speaks as if he's the most amazing dad. He often talks about what people will say at his funeral. Maybe his kids will wish they had more games of catch and one-on-one time, and less wondering which country their dad is in (but I could be wrong)…

  5. Wow! As a father to a little boy this is amazing advice. The idea of being in the watching phase and building the support structure around my sons strengths and interests is such a simple idea but very powerful. Thank you for this.

  6. The message in the last 3 minutes hit home the most. Dont get too Vanilla with your content in order to try and reach more people. Be true and potent and reach those that you are supposed to reach.

  7. Thanks Sonya and Sacha for saying the compliments I would love to tell Gary to his face! You are the best, if I had the power I would, actually am working to get the power to bring you/your message into our school system. The current system is broke in the way that it's not developing healthy adults ready to take on the real world. As a mental health professional I am asked why people are worse off now than years ago? how did world survive without psychologist? The answer is very much due to the changes in parenting & education. Gary your message is bringing back the old school system, that we desperately need. To make the world great again! Keep it up! we need your message so bad!

  8. Don’t show up to every event but make sure you come to at least a few a year. As a kid with his dad never showing up to any of his baseball games, it pays a tole when your younger. When I was in high school I didn’t care, but in elementary school when everyone else’s dad was there and mine wasn’t it definitely didn’t feel good.

  9. I was a D and F student too – actually I still am a D and F student, but I didnt have a mom or dad around. My aunts, uncles, and grandparents were there, but made me feel ashamed for my grades. I ended up hiding them – never fixing some of the foundational issues I had. If I were to have kids, I wholeheartedly believe that I will suffocate with compassion, empathy, love, and attention. Thanks for making content Gary.

  10. Love ya Gary…In the end who cares if everyone knows you…Reminds me of what Jesus said " Depart from me ,I never knew you"Lol ..Really whats most important is to know that Jesus knows you and all your loved ones because at the end of the day..End of the Trail..Life ..He's the only one who said" IAM the Resurrection and The Life" Not to get heavy here but Its the end of the trail without Him. But If He knows you.. in a good way ..It's just the Beginning!.Love Ya Bro..

  11. Really interesting conversation. Gary made a lot of good points that I agree with. He even talked about some things that parents just avoid because the truth hurts. The one thing he said that I disagree with is attending your child's events. When I look back on my childhood, some of my best memories are my parents being there at all my events to support me. The truth is that not every parent can be there for every event. But I have 2 friends whose dad's were not there for their events and it is one of their most sore and tender subjects in conversation. I am by no means the perfect parent, and I don't have a $150 million business, but I would like to think that if I did, I would be at most all of my child's events. I'm not judging Gary in any way though. He has to do what he feels is best. But, I believe that time is the most valuable asset, not money. You can never get back the time you could have spent with family. You can always get more money. One of my reasons for being an entrepreneur is to enable me to spend more time with my son. I plan to make a lot more money, but a question I ask myself with respect to money is, "How much is enough?" We all have to answer that question for ourselves or ignore it and lay on our death beds wishing we had spent more time with family rather than chasing money. God bless you, Gary! Thank you for all you do!

  12. Great parenting advice. Thanks for this video like always!!!
After hearing GaryVee Talking about his mom being his supporting cast (unbothered about other people's opinion of him) and her desire to be the best mom due to the fact that she lost her mom at 5 years old, reminded exactly of my mother-in-law. Same story.
What a wonderful woman she is, an amazing mother to my wife, and superhero grand-mother to our daughter. #grateful

  13. I adore this! So much value, as usual! As I learn (and unlearn!) stuff about myself, success and the world in general, I'm really really concerned on how to pass-on as many of this "new ideas" to my 3-year-old, so it's natural for him, and he won't have to try and learn and reprogram his mind in his 30s… The biggest struggle: to still let him be free and make his own choices…

  14. Hey Gary, I just started my youtube channel and I'm wanting to build my personal brand and I have been documenting what I learn, have learnt and want to learn. But I also want to build a community for people to develop themselves and grow as individuals. Can these two things be one in the same? Or should It be separate from my personal brand?

  15. Love and support! Its really not that hard but we all tend to complicate everything. Right now I am working 12-14 hours per day and just moving my business forward at the same time try to participate in my childrens up bringing…and its very hard to always be on point. Sow their is alot of rearrangements to be done, rewrite my priorities and also timemanage it more effectivaly. Like when I am with my kids then really focus on that moment and when I am working really just do that. Something that has worked really good though is waking up 04:00 in the morning. I manage to work a couple of hours and get some load of my chest at the sametime being able to enjoy a breakfast with my family.

  16. Since when do we need someone to tell us how to parent ? We know our kids as much as anyone and we know what they need . They need love and attention . We dont need this guy to tell us what to do . Care about number 1 …your children . Follow your heart and go with your instincts. YouTube is not the platform for parenting advice . No disrespect to Gary but I really dont get this cult following . A little egotistical for my taste but I can see how the younger generation latches on to this .
