  1. Interesting take on some new tech. My brother and I have interned at Apple, Tesla, and Microsoft and created this YouTube channel to inspire more college kids get into engineering/tech. We go to UC Berkeley and hope you/your viewers can learn something from our vids. Cheers!

  2. I'm looking at these comments and am not coming across many on the last part of this video. I can not fuckin wait for this market to crash. I've been improving my craft and investing into core skills and principals, When the market crashes I'll be waiting. And quite honestly I hope I fuckin fail during that time, to even think I have the audacity as a 18 year old to take on a collapsing market. But when that market rebounds I'll be better than ever because being an entrepreneur is all I am thats all I know.

  3. lol here's some honey with the vinegar, you're completely right about people's general lack of perspective. and ofc your consumer centric and long term mindset is on point

  4. Holy crap Gary you are so fucking wrong about the negatives and potential negatives of our current and future technology. You're the one being naive here my friend. Just take a look at the smart people concerned about AI safety and tell me again with a straight face nothing concerns you.

  5. The comparisons to previous technological doomsayers are just dumb. Let me give a few examples. Take the Coca leaf. If you chew on it, it provides a mild stimulant effect, similar to caffeine. If you purify it and extract the active ingredient directly, you get Cocaine and Crack, which obviously fucks up countless lives. Or take porn. Give a teenage boy a Playboy magazine, and besides some ogling and masturbation, nothing much happens. Give that same boy unlimited access to terabytes and terabytes of hardcore porn with thousands of the hottest girls doing the most stimulating acts all in vivid HD, and you get Porn Induced Erectile Dysfunction in 18 year olds, which is a real thing.

Dose matters. Scale matters. Denying that and lumping in people calling out our current technology with the idiot doomsayers of the past is just plain wrong.

  6. completely disagree with Gary's comments about technology not having a negative effect basically. Obviously there is positive AND negative and we need to acknowledge both. At a certain point technology gets too powerful/addicting and starts having a negative effect on people's lives. There are hard numbers in study after study to back this up.

  7. I was so close to passing on watching this because "just another keynote". This ended up being my favorite keynote by far! Some brutal truths in here. Totally agree with this being the one step back for two steps forward in the world and tech. Crazy good!

  8. Love what he is saying. Social media is showing not only who we really are but what we want others to think of us. Too many of us get caught up in putting that front both online and in person for the acceptance of others when actually you don’t need that. Do what you need to do for your own happiness and acceptance. I’ve always lived with the fact that others opinions, acceptance and thoughts aren’t what will take me through life so fuck giving a fuck about it!

  9. 14:45…You the man Gary! Overcoming judgement is so hard, that's where I struggle. I'm a musician and developer and just launched our album for an interactive experience for VR/Oculus Rift. Hope to be at these events soon!
