Awesome Tip: #AskGaryVee Episode 154: Chase Jarvis Answers Questions on the Show
#QOTD, from Chase: Do you see virtual reality becoming popular in the next 24 months?
#QOTD, from Gary: Star Wars or Star Trek / how old are you?
#TIMESTAMPS
4:51 – If I pursue what I think is my passion, but don’t come close to achieving what I want, will I have wasted my time?
9:44 – Would you rather time travel 100 years into the past or 100 into the future and why?
11:06 – In episode 122 you say at 22 to 24 don’t settle. What is the settling age? I thought you should never settle.
14:50 – Would you say the “T” in timing is way more important than the “T” in talent?
17:44 – Star Wars or Star Trek? Or both?

I need the italian subtitles
Star Trek 22 π
Yep, definitely wasted a lot of my life trying to be a doctor because βthat was what you were supposed to do.β
Trying to listening all the episodes. Still far behind, but I keep on going Gary!
Thanks for having Chase on the Sshhooooowww! I found him through you, and I"m starting to watch his stuff. Star Wars and Star Trek – I love them equally. I'm 49, so I grew up with both franchises. Nerd heaven
I'm from the future, no it hasn't happened yet.
Awesome show Gary!!
Star Trek 49
Overflowing with power with these two PowerHouse XD.
VR is going to be just another gimmick.. Everyone won't be using it. Also, Star trek fan, I'm 19 :p
Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. Seen too many examples of that in sales. Agreed, hard work (+ practice & passion) creates skill and talent.
Graduated with about $32,000 in dept and still feel as if I paid that much for a piece of paper. 80-90% of the knowledge I apply on a daily basis I learned on the internet or on the job training
hahahaha I'm 32 and like Star Trek. Spot on. VR will take a few years to penetrate the market but I guarantee VR will change the face of education forever. No more books or writing things down it will be more like an RPG where you complete tasks and talk to other characters and learn without even knowing it. It will allow for bespoke one 2 one education customised to the child. Very excited by VR and AR its going to push humans to greater accomplishments by removing all of the current inefficiencies of school.
Star Wars AND Star Trek, 30
Thanks Gary you opened my eyes on what it is talent and timing! It's the same and that's the beauty of it! Way more people are confused what's timing mins !
I don't think it will change the game – I think it will fall to the level of gaming.
Star Wars, 33
Both Star Trek and Star Wars. 35yrs old. Grew up on Star Wars and watched all three episodes ad nausea! But! As G.V. perfectly pointed out, Star Trek TNG in the 90s revitalized that cult classic. Soooo both!
Awesome question.
I know I'm late to this video, but WHY is Chase not active on Instagram? He does photography (seemingly appreciates visual art)… I don't get it π
That guy is sharp as a tack
Hello Gary! Chase! You guys killed it! π Great episode!
Thanks for sharing the great thoughts! i think that you'd sh*t your pants to time travel 100 y. into the future! But you could send one of your 50 clones :)) haha
#QOTD Chase: maybe 24 months is not enough, but more probable in the next 5-8 years
#QOTD Star Wars, no doubt! – 27 y.
Cheers,
D.
QOTD Chase: I think it will take longer than 24 months to reach critical mass, but it will eventually become a household thing. I think people will eventually use VR to avoid leaving their houses; go see sights and museums and go to work all virtually.
QOTD Gary: I'm 26, and I originally loved Star Wars. However, the new Star Trek movies that started in 2009 are seriously calling my name. I think that the world of Wars is "cooler", but the world of Trek is more realistic for our future.
Definitely my favorite episode! Love 12:50 YeeeAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Feedback: I love all Gary videos, from garyvee show to daily vee, BUT sometimes Gary interrupts CJ (or other guests) at the wrong moments. CJ tries to tell a story or tries to make a point and at that moment Gary interrupts and the whole inspiration is gone instantly. Just saying π
spaceballs. not star wars nor star trek
This was probably the most exciting, high energy, show I've seen so far. Good stuff.
Yes, VR will be everywhere in the next 24 months.
i just literally laughed out loud at the 'different speed' comment.
BOTH STAR TREK AND WARS, AGE 25
ive watched this episode twice and listened to the podcast epidode this morning.
not sure if still relevant, but I reckon VR is overrated. I've tried all these headsets myself and the quality and the comfort is just not there. VR is being pushed since the 80's or and even earlier and it has always sucked – nobody wants to wear dorky glasses or a helmet just to play a game or watch a movie.
When they can figure out the controls (for gaming), the comfort (weight and condensation from the heat of your face), the quality (screen resolution, optics) and screen persistence (ghosting sucks a$$ – then MAYBE I'd personally give it a go. But right now, as the tech stands, it's no more than a gimmick. At the moment it stands in line with Augmenter Reality (AR) games and apps – it's fun to have a poke around and play with, but there's no real need for it, nor is it amazing in terms of what you can do with it.
If you both have mics why is only Gary's in the mix? just questioning as a sound recordist π
neither startrek nor star wars (20 years of age)
Star Trek: TNG
33 year-old male
Great show, I hope Gary and Chase will at least have a show together like this EVERY month. So down to earth (if you are not offended by the strong words used :P). But man….the information and tips you get along the way level all books that write how to be succesful (they miss the real point sometimes, and confused myself more than they helped often). VR will be ONLY popular if the game industry will have games and content ready on a steady base. Continuation is the key here. With the Consumer versions of the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive but also the Gear VR (which will be also cheaper soon @ 99 dollars) sickness and screendoor effects are gone (most important thing is that people don't get motion sickness). I got the Oculus Rift DK1 but also tried a lot of demo's on the DK2, HTC Vive and Gear VR from Samsung and more and more startups and entrepeneurs did take the leap already to invest in companies. Some companies already did quit because it didn't gain revenue, but like in every other company, I guess you can't quit after the first problems because then you lose all your invested money and time anyway. Star Wars or Star Trek? Star Wars! But hopefully they keep the spirit of George Lucas alive @ Disney.
You're looking at a girl who did follow suit and went to college because my mom and dad said it was what I needed to do. I went for a 2 year degree and now I owe $90,000 in collage loans. P.s I don't even use my degree. I could not agree more with what the two of you said on that subject! And for the QOTD- I think it will have a big impact but I'm not sure on the next 24 months. QOTD 2- Star Wars… My dad was a Trekie and totally burned me out. haha
I think that VR will pop fats and then settle fast into a niche like 3-D or digital books. Some people will never like it.
Chase QOTD: I think it's gonna be more than 24 months, but within 5 years that VR takes hold big time.
Gary QOTD: BOTH and I'm 36.
On a side note Gary, I found you through Chase, then I found Casey through you. Huge respect for what all three of you guys are doing. Peace and love to all of you peeps π
Great show again!! Big thanks to Gary and Chase for sharing some great knowledge.
Todays question: I think it will take more than 24month before it goes crazy, just my 2cents.
I think virtual reality will take off just not for longer than 24 months maybe 5-10 years
Star Wars – 28
I'll make fucking money, India!
– GV, 2015
#QOTD Trekkie at 24
@Chase – I think 24 months is too soon for a break through for virtual reality. Though they are working on some badass stuff at the moment.
Star Wars, no question. 38
Great show!
Star Wars/23
Also found Gary through that one Chase show and completely jumped on the Vaynerchuk train leaving Jarvis in the dust. This episode has me wanting to check out Chase again.
I think the fascination everyone has with this new 360 shooting is bringing us closer to virtual reality but besides that I won't be surprised if it takes more than 24 months for VR to make an impact.
Star Wars – 29yo
