  1. Completely agree that making sustainable decisions is key in business. After working for McKinsey for 6 years, I decided to start a YouTube channel to share my experiences in business. Would love you to check it out if you would like to learn from what I experienced!

  2. Hey everyone! Just started my e-commerce business selling iPhone case my brands name is Velardi's! If you need an iPhone case you can find a selection of cases on my website: http://www.velardis.store/
I am also going to give you a $3 OFF Promo code: NEW2019

  3. I was out surfing for 3 hours yesterday, it felt real… You Should have Said "people believe that internet is the real world" and vice versa. Pretty Stupid content right there to be honest. Just some feedback, . I envy your working class hero ethic though.

  4. I have another question… I do appreciate your message; be authentic, be self-aware, follow your happiness etc etc but do you ever self reflect enough to question why MONEY makes you the happiest? and why allowing/ encouraging others to chase their happiness through the form of money is your goal? isn't that capitalist at its absolute peak? you've internalised the idea that having money (whether or not you are spending it on fancy shit) is the ultimate need for your own happiness (and whether happiness should be the ultimate goal at all is another question). Does it ever worry you that you are asking people to 'be authentic' and expose themselves and yet in china the mass surveillance and knowing of everything is what is terrifying people! It's just a bit ironic. back to the money aspect… to be clear I'm not saying stop being altruistic, stop encouraging people to follow what makes them happy, stop any of the other messages you are promoting I think they are absolutely valid, but why should we be chasing the dollar AT ALL. If you are being brutally honest you are branding the way you are so that you can sell more! You are telling people exactly what they want to hear… they can have money and be happy all by being their true selves, its the capitalist dream. What about all the other things in the world you could do with your skills/ talent and brain! What about the environment? why do you not care? why does money make you happiest? don't bullshit and say its the people or the community! its power because money = power in our society! I still love your messages and the encouragement you give people and the vibe you make people feel!

  5. 30:21 this is just not true. Gary keeps saying this in his speeches but it's not true at all. Many studies have already been done on this. Social media IS making people "fake", or seek validation. Studies have shown that people have improved their mental health, self esteem, etc by deleting their facebook and instagram accounts. Suicide and depression rates are highly correlated with the usage of facebook and instagram. It sucks that Gary keeps pushing this narrative that social media simply just "exposes" who you really are. Not true at all. There are real mental and physiological changes that can be attributed to social media alone.

  6. Gary, This is an excellent tactical conversation. One comment that I really loved and think has great potential for more of your focus. You said "The Quality of your customers matters. The quality of your service matters." the "Short-term" focus/effort from most managers/leaders is a HUGE pitfall for getting the MOST out of people. You Rock!

  7. getting to the end of this and thinking:

marketers don’t want to hear that yesterday’s audience is not today’s; marketers don’t want or know how to reckon with people’s spiritual growth; marketers know nothing about joy

when attention got a price tag, civilization as we know it started to end

the way out: be someone whose attention can’t be bought, only earned—then the world (your world) starts to change

happy new year everyone, thanks for reading

  8. wow @ “everything you want is gonna be delivered in an hour in America” (33:47)
imagine what horrific, impatient voices will be crowding ~*the now*~ then! online will be a madhouse—it’s just political zingers and waiting for delivery “guys”—wow, the inhumanity and impatience that’s gonna happen! Maybe we’ll move to Europe because we want slow—we will recolonize the whole world and make it over in the images we had of those places when we were ramping up our online reading, i.e. when we were most inspired about the potential of being on earth in real time

  9. re: “people are planning their whole day around the picture” starting at 30:40 – people do plan around the picture, when really you need someone to answer your call to come close, slow down, get quiet, look at this—there needs to be space for an impact; things need to be able to matter! Maybe people are suffering from ‘matter fatigue’—too many things matter and they can’t discard; they can’t clear the deck—they can’t back to blank slate where things can matter again

  10. Love the content as always….business owners – if you're in this room…ask important questions and listen to the responses. There are people asking questions about tactics (when should I post or how do I post this or that) versus asking questions about strategy and growing your business at scale. These videos are life changing to people watching at home…I can only imagine how amazing they would be if you're in a room with Gary!
