  7. Gary is the reason why I left my full-time job to start my own company. Going from earning a good salary to earning $0, but I now love what I do and I don't care what anybody else says about me, my business or my life unless it is constructive criticism.

  14. One of my favorite lessons from economics is Ricardo's comparative advantage theory. "If you are not the best at something in the absolute, compared to the rest of the world, good! go do the thing you're best at period, that's where the money is". My very successful gym teacher from junior high isn't Leo Messi, but he loves soccer to death. After a short player career he coached a kids team in Paris, then decided he'd feel better with a teacher job, so he got it. The keyword in "comparative advantage" is "advantage". Tamerlane once said "It is better to be on hand with ten men than absent with ten thousand." It is better to be practicing with something rather than to bragging about twelve times the amount.

  26. As much as I want to be inspired by this, the "talent" bit is seriously putting me off. I feel like I am doomed to fuckinh fail because I wasn't born with any natural fucking talent. I dream of becoming a pro 3D Artist but since I am not born with any natural talent, it's going to be hell for me.

    I fucking hate this fucking word "talent".

  30. This is where I differ from Gary. It's context + hard work + average talent. As a former (twice) Olympian, talent is way overrated. Context is by far, the most important component. You can work like there is no tomorrow and be the most talented person however, if you are in a refugee camps in Somalia, well…very good luck.
