Awesome Tip: Gary Vaynerchuk Explains: How Marketing Works

WHEREVER PEOPLE ARE PAYING THE MOST ATTENTION, MARKETERS WILL BE THERE TO RUIN IT. WHETHER IT WAS EMAIL ONCE UPON A TIME OR SOCIAL MEDIA TODAY, THERE IS OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE NEW SPACES THAT CREATE ATTENTION.

watch all of my short motivational films HERE:

MARKETERS RUIN EVERYTHING: Whether it’s radio, television, Facebook, Groupon, Living Social, Snapchat, or even email, once enough attention is being given to a particular platform, marketers come along and ruin the sh*t out of it. It’s just the way it goes, and that’s okay.

See, the thing is, if you want to get people’s attention you need to follow their eyes and ears. What are people interested in today and why? Once marketers can figure out those reasons, it’s their turn to come in and interrupt the experience. They need to find out where the attention is and swoop in. If you don’t get in or don’t play properly (read: natively) within that platform, then you’re going to lose. Period.

The truth is, this has been happening forever. So the question here is, can you move first? How savvy is your radar and how quick can you beat the competition to the market? Move first and extract the most value from the marketplace’s attention, until the rest of the marketers come in and ruin that location. This isn’t anything new and it’s going to continue until attention remains a thing. It’s just a matter of time because no platform is sacred – and that’s okay.

  1. Load of BS. Marketers don't ruin stuff. Everything that the modern society is made of, be it music, arts, science, technology, medicine, transportation, agriculture, all exists because marketing as a function makes it possible for people to specialize and exchange resources. Sure, there are snake-oil salespeople like "Gary Vaynerchuk" who like to claim that marketers ruin everything, and yet go on to "market" to the viewers by asking them to "Subscribe". If marketers is ruining everything, why the hell are you "marketing" to them?

  2. GARY THANK YOU!! THIS RIGHT HERE IS PURE GOLD. You continue to always have my "attention" because you give value that feeds my soul. I want to personally thank you Gary! I've created a "GaryVee" folder on my youtube channel with a few "must watch" videos to keep organized 🙂
PS If you have any upcoming projects that you are working on, I'd be happy to help!

  3. We get 30 minutes of commercials for an hour show. Football games are only an hour long and last for four hours. Fucking tired of shit products including drugs being thrown up in my face every five minutes!!! Fucking hookers and pimps Absolute shame all the money people spend for cable, it's loaded with more commercials than actual programs.

  4. Man so i smoke herb for my ms and like even though there is cash in transit (quite a bit) i am dead broke right now, which bums me out cuz i wont have the ability to work 100% funny how your priorities change when you have a goal

  5. I say its a great speach. Nevertheless, internet is not like radio or television. It was meant to be a tool. People use it not only to entertain themselves, but also to make research and search for other tools, such as a product or a service. I figure that's where i like to be. Where the customer, client, agency, startup, corporation craves my expertise. That's the difference between a "marketer" and an actual performance marketing professional.
