Awesome Tip: Why "Employee First" Businesses Will Win in the Next Decade

The foundation of any successful business is content and motivated employees. Too many business owners put their clients, their customers, and themselves over the well-being of their employees, and it’s a huge mistake. Gary sat down with Arthur Blank to talk about running a business with kindness, empathy, and an “employee-first” culture. Arthur is an American businessman and a co-founder of The Home Depot. He also has a new book out around the themes discussed in the video called “Good Company”. Gary and Arthur also talk about the people confusing competitiveness with unkindness, coaching a sports team versus operating a business, the impacts of social media on community and more… Enjoy!

  1. "Employee's first" is just as bad as putting customers on a pedestal. Your just going to create a bunch of Karen's on the other side of the counter. Some countries in Europe have already figured out treating everyone equally is the key to long term economic success. People need to be treated like people, shifting the power dynamic to favor any one side just leads to entitlement and complaining. When you treat people with respect and treat yourself with respect no one walks away cheated.

  2. Financial results and having purpose in life, of which you have to understand people are striving for more purpose. Competitive nature focused towards positive thinking leads to social integration and supporting allies. @GaryVee having been through your environment, how do you notice a creative mind when you see one?

  3. There’s no other greater joy than having financial freedom and a life free of debts, all thanks to Mr Nicholas, cause he made me who I am today through forex trade. He has helped me a lot with his trading strategies which helps me to earn $27,550 weekly. 4. like how he says "we" when he describes his achievements in the beginning. really shows how he views his success as being a result of the community around him. -austin (instagram: austin__da1)

  5. This is what separates Vee from your typical magnate, RESPECT and EMPATHY. People appreciate these things, no one wants to feel disposable. I once called him out on something, just a random dude on the internet, he responded and with great humility.

  6. everybody thinks that costumer is the first, but if you can not show your employees that they matter much more than the costumers, costumers will keep being disappointed by your service, so you need to keep your employee first but never let your costumer know they come second, just tell them they are right but dont waste your good employees feelings because of costumers bad attitudes.

  7. Hi Gary and Arthur, Wow! great video and great topics. I was born of 10th child from 12 siblings. In the North part of California in the 1950's. So it but me in 60's range of age. I understand both Gary, you're point of view and even Arthur's point of view I did not have computer access until I was much older in life. I only knew what people told me who was very close to myself and my family, but since online access I learn so much more. But I feel closer to my family I can talk to in person. I was taught to first service my siblings please my parents. Be respectful to older people. So, I think every one will figure what is the correct balances no matter their age. Thank you both for great video.
